About

Andrea Gilli is Adjunct Professor at SAIS Europe, Advisor to the Undersecretary of Defense, Italian Ministry of Defense as well as Adjunct Professor at LUISS Guido Carli. Previously, Andrea served as Senior Researcher at the NATO Defense College, consulted for the Italian Government, the US Department of Defense’s Office of Net Assessment, the Italian Air Force, and NATO. Andrea has been a visiting and post-doctoral fellow at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University as well as Stanford and Harvard Universities. Andrea has also worked for the Center for Security Studies of Metropolitan University Prague, the European Union Institute for Security Studies and RUSI. Andrea’s research has won awards from the European Defence Agency and the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs. His research has been published by the most prominent academic journals in his field, are assigned by the most important universities around the world, and has been featured by The Economist, Washington Post, Wired and Foreign Policy, among others.

Andrea earned his BA in Politics and Economics from the University of Turin, his MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, his MRes in Methodology from the European University Institute, and his PhD in Social and Political Sciences also from the European University Institute.
