U.K. Foreign Minister Margaret Beckett to Speak at JHU SAIS

Margaret Beckett, the foreign minister of the United Kingdom, will speak at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) on Monday, 07/10 at 11 a.m.

Her lecture topic will be "Globalization and Security."

Beckett is making her first official visit to Washington, D.C., as Britain's new foreign minister. She became the first woman foreign secretary after the Cabinet reshuffle of 05/2006. Previously she was U.K. Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held in Kenney Auditorium located on the first floor of the school's Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., in Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to [email protected] or 202.663.5636.
