Registration and Placement Exams

Returning students from SAIS Vietnamese Program can register online without taking any placement exam. All other students please follow the instructions below.

New students with no background in Vietnamese should register in Vietnamese Novice Low (SA.912.710.01).

Placement exams

All new students with background in Vietnamese need to take the Vietnamese placement exam in order to be placed in a class.The Vietnamese placement exam consists of two parts:

1. A written exam - includes reading and vocabulary.

2. An oral interview - students are required to take the written exam prior to meeting for their oral interview.
