Registration and Placement Exams

Returning students from SAIS Burmese program can register online without taking any placement exam. All other students please follow the instructions below.

New students with no background in Burmese should register in Burmese Novice Low (SA.918.710.01).

Placement exams

All new students with background in Burmese need to take the Burmese placement exams in order to be placed in a class. The Burmese placement exams consist of two parts:

1. Written exam - includes reading and vocabulary.

2. Oral interview - students are required to take the written exam prior to meeting for their oral interview.
