“The New U.S. Strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia: Opportunities and Implications,” will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
The Trump administration has outlined a new strategy for engagement in Afghanistan and South Asia that will not only focus on Afghanistan, but address challenges faced by the entire region, and integrate a variety of instruments including diplomacy and economic power.
The panel will explore the opportunities and implications of the new U.S. strategy by examining Afghanistan’s current economic outlook, policies, reform priorities, and possibilities for regional cooperation. The experts will also analyze how U.S. diplomatic, security, and aid policies could support a new vision for Afghanistan.
