JHU SAIS to Host Book Release Event for "Reading Lolita in Tehran"

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host an event to celebrate the release of "Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books" by SAIS scholar Azar Nafisi on Monday, 04/7 at 5:30 p.m.

This event will feature a lecture by Nafisi, a fellow at the SAIS Foreign Policy Institute, about her new book published 03/25 by Random House. The book is a poignant tale of seven young women who came together to read and study classics of Western literature with Nafisi in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Carl Gershman, president of the National Endowment for Democracy, and Leon Wieseltier, literary editor of The New Republic, will provide introductory remarks.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Kenney Auditorium of the school's Nitze Building, located at 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., in Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to 202.663.5832 or [email protected].
