JHU SAIS to Host Forum on U.S.-Republic of Korea Relationship

The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a forum, "The United States and the Republic of Korea: Dialogues on the Relationship," on Friday, 05/4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (breakfast will precede the forum at 9 a.m.) This event originally was scheduled to take place on 04/9.

The forum, hosted by the U.S.-Korea Institute at SAIS, features the following participants:

  • Christopher Hill, assistant secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and head of the U.S. delegation to the Six-Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear issue
  • Wendy Cutler, assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan, Korea and APEC Affairs and chief U.S. negotiator for the Korean-U.S. (KORUS) Free Trade Agreement negotiations
  • Richard Lawless, deputy under secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs.

Moderators for this event include Don Oberdorfer, chairman of the U.S.-Korea Institute at SAIS, Andrew Ward, Financial Times correspondent, and Alan Romberg, senior associate and director of the China Program at the Henry L. Stimson Center.

The session, which is open to the public, will be held in the Kenney Auditorium of the school's Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to [email protected] or 202.663.5830.
