Tao Hua

Professor of Chinese Studies

About

Hua Tao earned his PhD in History with a focus on Chinese national minorities from Nanjing University’s Department of History in 1989. He currently serves as a Professor of Chinese Studies at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and Professor and Doctoral Advisor at Nanjing University’s Nationalities and Border Areas Research Institute. From 1992-1993, Professor Hua was a visiting scholar at the Harvard-Yanching Institute at Harvard University. In 2002, Professor Hua organized a workshop on “The Dialogue Between Chinese Muslim and Non-Muslim Scholars” with the support of Nanjing University and the Harvard-Yanching Institute. Professor Hua’s research interests include the history of ethnic minorities in Northwest China and the contemporary development of China’s ethnic minorities. He has taught at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center since 1994.
