JHU SAIS Center Publishes New Issue of Transatlantic Magazine: 20 People in Transatlantic Relations to Watch in 2005

Transatlantic: Europe, America & the World, published by the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), has released its latest issue entitled "20 in 05: Who Will Make a Difference?"

What do actor Johnny Depp, Deputy Secretary of State Bob Zoellick, the new prime minister of Ukraine Yuliya Tymoshenko and Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks basketball star, have in common? TransAtlantic, which has just celebrated its first year of publication, announces an eclectic group of individuals on both sides of the Atlantic and around the world who will make a difference in transatlantic relations this year.

In addition, the magazine interviews Peter Sutherland, chairman of British Petroleum and Goldman Sachs International, to find out his views on the world economy and business on both sides of the Atlantic today.

John Bruton, former Irish prime minister and new European Union ambassador to the United States, speaks out on European-American relations-what he sees as key conflicts and his views on how to resolve these troublesome problems.

Jan Eliasson, the Swedish ambassador to the United States, will become the new president of the U.N. General Assembly. He talks about needed U.N. reforms, and how the United States and U.N. need to work more closely together.

Transatlantic looks at what a Tony Blair victory in next month's British election would mean for British foreign policy and the special relationship with the United States.
