JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Future of Investment in Microfinance

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a forum, "The Future of Investment in Microfinance," on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m.

This event, co-hosted by the SAIS International Development Program and the Grameen Foundation USA, will feature a lecture by Alex Counts, president of the Grameen Foundation. Counts will explore the question whether the microfinance industry can capture the attention of private investors to meet the demands for service to the world's poorest people.

Francis Fukuyama, the Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy, will moderate the session.

Grameen Foundation USA supports 50 microfinance partners in 20 countries, having impacted more than 5 million of the world's poorest people since its beginning seven years ago.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Kenney Auditorium of the school's Nitze Building, located at 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., in Washington, D.C.
