Introductory to Basic Mediation Skills

Mediation is a neutral, voluntary, and confidential process that facilitates problem-solving and helps participants develop solutions that meet everyone’s needs. Students will learn to resolve interpersonal conflicts and practice the following skills: 
• Physical setting and preparation 
• Explaining mediation: the BIG 3 
• Listening and gather information; identifying feelings, values and topics 
• Framing and listing topics 
• Brainstorming and developing solutions 
• Writing an agreement 
• Feedback and follow-up
