Jason Clay graduated with an M.S. in anthropology from Harvard College and a Ph.D. in anthropology and international agriculture from Cornell University. His areas of expertise include: indigenous people, nation/state conflicts; natural resource management; global trends; corporate social responsibility; reducing social and environmental risks; water and carbon neutrality; agriculture and aquaculture; impact assessments of large scale development projects; trend analysis on the impact of biofuels; metric-based standards for agriculture and aquaculture and animal protein consumption. In his work at the World Wildlife Fund, Clay brings people together to effect change and improve environmentally sensitive practices in worldwide agriculture and aquaculture. Clay≠s goal is to create global standards for resource sustainability, particularly in terms of ingredient sourcing and carbon and water neutrality. He has been instrumental in convening industry roundtables of buyers, producers and environmentalists to develop innovative business ideas for the conservation of salmon, shrimp, mollusks, catfish and tilapia. Dr. Clay≠s published articles include: Resource Wars˘Nation and State Conflicts of the Twentieth Century, Nature≠s Subsidies to Shrimp and Salmon Farming, Shrimp Aquaculture and the Environment and World Bank Policy on Tribal People: Application to Africa, Aften Technical Note No. 16.
