Background and Education

Professor Sonno is Assistant Professor of Economics, University of Bologna. Previously he was the Research Assistant of Professor Gianmarco Ottaviano (Centre for Economic Performance, LSE), Sep 2015 to Aug 2017; Professor Massimo Morelli (Bocconi), Sep 2014 to Feb 2015; and Professor Carlo Altomonte (Bocconi), Feb 2013 to Jul 2015. He also was a Teaching Assistant at the London School of Economics (July 2017) and Bocconi University (Sep 2013 to Aug 2015). Sonno has held positions at the European Youth Parliament Italy (Sep 2008 to Sep 2015) including President of the Board of Appeals (2015-2017); President (2013-2015); as well as Vice President, Fund-raising, Institutional Relations. He aslso is Responsible for fundraising at Nasara for Burkina NGO (Aug 2003 to present).

Professor Sonno's other activities include European Central Bank, shortlisted worldwide among the 10 Ph.D. students for the ECB Young Economists’ Competition, July 2017, Portugal ; Lectureship (sabbatical cover AY 2016/2017) offered by University College London (refused for F.R.S.-FNRS Research Fellowship) ; Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique, fully funded Research Fellow (2016-2018), Belgium. PhD Economics from the Universitè Catholique de Louvain.
