Background and Education

Has over twenty years experience teaching the Korean language. Held teaching, curriculum development, staff management, and language program management positions at the US Department of Defense, including for the Department of the Army, Joint Forces, and the US Army Special Operations Command’s John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School; the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute's National Foreign Affairs Training Center; the University of Arizona; and the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. Developed and validated textbooks and course curriculums for Korean language instruction at all levels, including developing a language training program designed for US diplomats and consular officers working in embassies and consulates abroad. Prepared a wide variety of professionals to work effectively internationally and domestically, including diplomats, military staff, government officials, business professionals, and staff working for International Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations. Selected for the Excellence in Language Teaching Award by the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, and received the award from the US Department of State for Teaching Excellence. BA in sociology from the University of North Carolina.
