Support SAIS

Support Tomorrow's Global Leaders

We invite you to share our vision and support tomorrow’s global leaders.

Making a Difference

Alumni and friends have a tremendous impact on strengthening the mission of SAIS.

A World of Possibilities

There are a variety of ways to support SAIS across our three-campus community.

A Wise Investment

Many companies sponsor matching gift programs that increase the impact of their employees' contributions.

Ways to Help

Annual Fund

By choosing to direct your yearly giving to the SAIS Annual Fund, you are offering SAIS the flexibility of unrestricted funding to address needs on all operational areas as they arise during the course of the year. These areas may include programmatic seed funding, fellowship support and students' activities.

Fellowships

Fellowships play an important role at SAIS where donors have an opportunity to establish relationships with students that last throughout their professional lives. Please designate your fellowship support to students at any of our three campuses. You will be invited to join us for events to meet students for whom you have helped.

Programmatic Support

Through teaching and research at SAIS, our faculty and students contribute to important global policy debates and advance new ideas. Support of these areas is critical to expand current and new programs at SAIS based on their long term value.

Buildings

Buildings on campus are spaces where you are always welcome to 'come home' and remember some of the best times of your life. They host classrooms—the heart of the SAIS experience—as well as events such as lectures, seminars, conferences, student government activities, graduations, and alumni reunions. Our buildings are the physical representation of our collective memory and a place where you will always 'belong.'

The Christian A Herter Society

While a gift of any amount is appreciated, you can join the Christian A. Herter Society with a leadership-level annual gift of $1,000. The Society is named in honor of SAIS co-founder and former U.S. Secretary of State Christian A. Herter. Herter Society members are invited to special SAIS events throughout the year.

Memorials

A number of initiatives have been launched by our alumni and friends to commemorate individuals for their unique contributions to SAIS.

SAIS Bologna Class Initiatives

Help make the SAIS unique educational experience accessible to international students with the passion and talent to make a difference in international relations. Designate your gift to your SAIS Bologna Class Initiatives.

Successes

Philanthropy and community building are key to our success. We are extremely grateful to our generous donors who have made it possible to perpetuate the SAIS experience through a number of successfully concluded projects.

Dedications

Celebrating donors for their commitment to SAIS is a meaningful way to foster a sense of community and belonging, a priority for SAIS. We honor our donors through named building spaces, research programs, Chairs, bequests, and fellowships.

The SAIS Bologna Center Building

The SAIS Bologna building campaign was an incredible success story: 90 percent of donors to the campaign are Bologna alumni. Many have given individually, many through a class initiative. It was the exceptional, generous and overwhelming response of alumni and friends to the campaign that made this project a reality.

Private philanthropy supported the SAIS Bologna building renovation and addition, the most ambitious project the Center has faced since its establishment in Via Belmeloro 11. Donors were recognized throughout the campus with named rooms and public spaces.

Thank you for considering a gift to SAIS in support of our global educational institution that encompasses three campuses in Washington, DC, Bologna, Italy, and Nanjing, China.

Alumni and friends have a tremendous impact on strengthening the mission of SAIS to educate tomorrow’s leaders – individuals who are well positioned to excel in the international relations arena who will confront unprecedented challenges and exciting opportunities to serve. SAIS prepares innovative thinkers and problem-solvers with the economic, cultural and global expertise to operate across national boundaries and in complex international settings. We invite you to share our vision and support tomorrow’s global leaders.
