Office of Student Life | Healthcare Information | Immunizations

Immunization Requirements

The government of the District of Columbia requires that all students who are under 26 years old have proof of the following:

  • Two doses against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR vaccine)
  • Tetanus/diphtheria booster given within the past ten years

Students who are scheduled to enroll for the DC Fall 2012 semester and who are under the age of 26 as of September 4, 2012 must submit a SAIS immunization form or the equivalent by August 10, 2012. Students entering SAIS DC in Spring 2013 must submit immunization information by January 11, 2013. After these dates, a hold will be placed on your registration record. Please note that incomplete immunizations, invalid dates, or forms which lack a validation stamp and signature will not be processed, and will delay your registration.

Students may access the immunization form by clicking here. SAIS will accept an equivalent medical record in lieu of the form as long as it is signed and stamped by a medical provider.

Immunization Coverage

Aetna Student Health provides coverage for the following immunizations only as of the start of the plan year on August 15 (entering fall students) or January 15 (entering spring students):

Gardasil
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Inactivated Polio (IPOL)
Meningitis
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Oral Typhoid
T-Dap
Tetatnus/Diphtheria
Typhim VI, injection (Typhoid)

Students can go to any clinic, provider or community resource for these immunizations. As with any medical care, students may save money when they go to the Georgetown Student Health Center and Aetna Student Health in-network preferred providers. See the Visiting a Doctor page for more information. Students may also wish to research the availability of vaccinations at their local government health department.

Travel Clinics

Students in need of travel vaccinations or other travel-related medical information may choose to visit a travel clinic. Click here for a list of DC-area travel clinics.
