How do I Request Accommodations at SAIS? In accordance with the Americans with Disabilties Act (ADA), the University provides students with disablities special accommodations during their time at SAIS. The accommodations vary depending on the specific disability. Students requesting special accommodations must follow the steps listed below: 1) Complete a Student Request for Accommodations Form (please see the Associate Director for Student Life if you would like a hard copy of this form). 2) Provide the University with a comprehensive evaluation of a specific disability from a qualified diagnostician that: a) Identifies the type of disability b) Describes the current level of functioning in an academic setting, and c) Lists recommended accommodations. Students whose documentation is out-of-date or incomplete will need to provide new or additional documentation. There are many diagnosticians in the DC area. Johns Hopkins does not pay for students' testing and students should contact their health insurance regarding the cost of testing. Click here to download a list of DC Diagnosticians. Please submit all documentation to the SAIS Associate Director for Student Life no later than three weeks before you would like for your accommodations to begin. Students may consult the Guide for Students for more information regarding documentation guidelines. 3) The Hopkins-wide Office of Disabilities Services will review the required documents listed above once they are submitted. The Associate Director for Student Life will contact the student with a list of approved and / or denied accommodations. 4) The Associate Director for Student Life will contact the appropriate faculty members to inform them of the approved accommodations. Students are also encouraged, but not required, to speak with each of their professors to discuss their accommodations. Who do I Contact at SAIS if I have Questions?
