Past events organized by the SAIS Consulting Club include luncheons, educational panels, workshops, and career treks. Luncheons. These events offer a small group of students the opportunity to learn from professionals from a variety of industries and sectors. During the 2008-2009 academic year, the club organized a total of ten luncheons. Among the organizations students with were: Boston Consulting Group, Accenture, Eurasia Group, AT Kearney’s Global Business Policy Council, Strategic Forecasting, and FINCA International. Panels. Broader educational events are organized periodically throughout the year. A panel on “Public-Private Partnerships” was organized in the Fall semester. The panelists were: Jimmy Henry, Vice President of Economic and Business Analysis Group at Booz Allen Hamilton; Paul Gebhard, Vice President of The Cohen Group; and Rose Mary Garcia, Managing Director of Economic Policy and Governance Unit at Nathan Associates. Workshops. Past workshops include consulting skills workshops provided in conjunction with Career Services as well as regular case interview workshops to prepare students for the job hunt. Contact the club or check SAISWorks for more information. Career Treks. These events let students conduct on-site visits with popular companies and organizations. Typically a career trek lasts one day and a handful of visits will be arranged. In Fall 2008, the club organized a trek to New York that let students visit the offices of Medley Global Advisors, McKinsey & Company, and the Eurasia Group. A career trek to offices in DC is planned for Fall 2009.
