Travel and Health Insurance

Students at SAIS must maintain adequate health insurance coverage to provide protection against unexpected accidents and illness. Full-time students must purchase the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan or sign a waiver demonstrating health insurance coverage comparable to the University's plan.

Review student health insurance options here. Students who are currently enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Plan are automatically covered by the On Call International travel insurance plan. This plan covers various services including medical evaluation and referrals, emergency medical evacuations, emergency message transmissions, and legal referrals.

All full-time students, including those not enrolled in the Aetna plan, are eligible for emergency medical or security evacuation coverage under International SOS when they are traveling on University-sponsored activities. This insurance is provided free by Johns Hopkins University.

Print your International SOS card here, and keep it on you when you travel. You will need to type in member number 11BSGC000019 in order to print. This card can be used in the case of a medical or security evacuation emergency while abroad.

All students traveling outside of the United States on a SAIS-sponsored internship or field trip with a faculty member are required to obtain and carry an International SOS insurance card.
