Travel Abroad on SAIS-Sponsored Activites

The ability to travel is considered to be a fundamental component of academic freedom at Johns Hopkins, but there is also an increasing need for enhanced attention to safety and security concerns on the part of the university and faculty when making travel decisions.

Before you travel on university-sponsored trips or begin summer internships abroad you must complete the following forms and review the following information:

Emergency Contact Form

Release and Liability Waiver

International Travel Checklist

Travel and health insurance coverage for students

Emergency communication protocol (updated November 16, 2009)

Travel safety tips and updates

JHU provides FREE emergency evacuation coverage to all JHU faculty, staff, students and fellows who are traveling on university-sponsored programs through International SOS. Print your International SOS membership card online and carry it with you when you travel. You will need JHU's member number: 11BSGC000019.

Every student traveling on a SAIS-sponsored trip or summer internship must carry this card.

International SOS is the world’s leading provider of medical assistance, international healthcare, security services and outsourced customer care.  It is not a health insurance plan, however, and will not reimburse students for routine medical expenses.
