*Using preferred providers saves you money because they have agreed to accept negotiated fees for services that are often lower than what non-preferred providers charge. You must pay the difference between what a non-preferred provider charges and the "reasonable charge" Aetna will allow for reimbursement under the plan benefits.

 Additional Benefits INCLUDE:

  • A national network of hospitals and physicians. To locate the nearest hospital or health care provider who is part of the Preferred Provider Network, visit the Aetna Student Health DocFind or call 800.558.8845.
  • On Call International services, such as Emergency Travel Assistance and Medical Evacuation, for travel anywhere in the world. Medical expenses are reimbursed at the out-of-network rate when you arrange care through On Call International.
  • Discount Programs for Vision, Hearing, Fitness, Weight Management, and Natural Products and Services such as vitamins, massage therapists and acupuncturists.
  • Free Health and Wellness Resources including the Beginning Right Maternity Program, Quit Tobacco Cessation Program, Informed Health Line and Aetna Health Connections Disease Management Program.
  • Discounts on eDiets, Zagat Online and Mayo Clinic Bookstore.com.

Plan Benefits DO NOT INCLUDE:

Visit the Exclusions section of the Plan Brochure for details about expenses that are not covered under Aetna Student Health, such as routine dental care or certain immunizations. Also review the Pre-existing Conditions/Continuously Insured Provisions in the plan brochure.

  • View your most recent claims

  • Use the cost-of-care tool

Visit http://www.aetnastudenthealth.com/schools/jhusi to register.

Optional Dental Programs

Aetna Student Health does not cover routine dental care. For those who would like dental coverage, one option is the Aetna Dental PPO Plan, with which you can choose to visit a participating or non-participating dentist for care. With the Aetna Advantage Dental Plan, you select a primary care dentist and have most preventive and restorative services covered by a copayment or reduced fee for each visit. You must enroll online via www.aetnastudenthealth.com/schools/jhusi no later than September 30. Coverage begins September 1 and ends August 31.

A third option is a discount program, not a insurance plan. With Vital Savings on Dental, you will save an average of 15 to 50% on a wide array of dental services with one annual fee of $25. For details or to enroll online, visit www.aetnastudenthealth.com/schools/jhusi.

Note that the JHU ID requested by Aetna Student Health is typically your 6-digit alphanumeric ISIS ID.
