Curricular Practical Training Application Process
- Discuss with your academic advisor the nature of your proposed internship/work experience and determine how this experience fits in your academic program and specific educational objectives of your course of study.
- Obtain a job offer letter from your prospective employer. The letter must be on a letterhead and must include:
- Specific beginning and ending dates
- Number of hours of work per week
- Name and address of the workplace
- Amount of compensation
- Job description
- Supervisor's name
- Make an appointment with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs& amp;nbsp;to get the recommendation form endorsed. Bring an offer& nbsp;letter from the employer with you (found in Application Packet).
- Go to the Registrar's Office to register for " Practicum in International Relations" Course SA 999.999
- Schedule appointment with the ISSS director, by calling 202.663.5672
Bring for your appointment (a quick checklist):
- Employment offer-letter
- CPT Request Form endorsed by the academic dean
- Originals of your current Form I-20 as well as all previously issued Forms I-20
- Valid passport with I-94 card
- Proof of course registration
The ISSS director will review your documents. If the all documents are acceptable, the CPT& amp;nbsp;authorization will be approved.& nbsp;A new Form I-20 with the authorization for CPT will be prepared and handed to you. You may not accept any employment prior to obtaining the authorization. Please note CPT authorization will be approved or denied from ISSS not from USCIS.
