READING

LISTENING

Proficiency exams are administered the week before the beginning of language classes in the Fall semester (first week of September), in January (last week of the month and only with appointment) and in the Spring semester (last week of April). In order to be eligible to take the proficiency exams, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be enrolled or have completed the fourth semester of SAIS language instruction (Intermediate Mid-II) in DC or Bologna; or
  • You need to score 600 (fifth semester) or higher in the online placement test AND pass the oral placement interview.
