Pre-Term SAIS Bologna - General Information
Pre-term at SAIS Bologna runs from August 21 through 17th September, 2013. The following courses will be offered: Intensive Italian, Survival Italian, Intensive English, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics (Intermediate level). Registration for pre-term in Bologna will take place online between May 20 and July 1. Prior to beginning the economics courses in pre-term, all students must provide proof of having successfully completed a Principles of Economics course covering basic micro- and macroeconomics. Pre-term economics classes also include math and economics review sessions. The math review will be required for all students who do not pass the online math review (access to this and other JHU systems will be sent to all students a week or two after matriculation).
Registration Deadline: MONDAY, JULY 1, 2013
All those who wish to take a pre-term course in Bologna must register online by. A deposit of €200 for EACH COURSE is payable online upon registration. We cannot guarantee a place in any pre-term course after that date. Registration will be available HERE as of May 20. Fees may be paid in their entirety online at the time of registration. Otherwise, the balance must be paid by the first day of your pre-term class(s) in the SAIS Bologna Business Office by means of: credit card, personal check (US$ or €), wire/bank transfer or cash.
Course Fees:
All pre-term courses cost €840, except for Survival Italian which costs €420
Refund Policy:
The pre-term course deposit is not refundable.
- Language course fees, less the non-refundable deposit, will be refunded to students who communicate their withdrawal in writing to the SAIS Bologna Business Office by 9 am on Tuesday, August 27. Thereafter, no refunds will be granted.
- Economics course fee, less the non-refundable deposit, will be refunded to students who communicate their withdrawal in writing to the SAIS Bologna Business Office by 9 am on Tuesday, August 27. One half of fee (after the deposit has been deducted) will be refunded to students who communicate their withdrawal to the SAIS Bologna Business Office by 9 am on Tuesday, September 3. Thereafter, no refunds will be granted.
Grading:
All pre-term exams are graded with the standard SAIS letter grading scale; grades are then converted to the pre-term scale as follows:

Survival Italian does not entail a final exam and will show on the student’s record only during pre-term (for administrative purposes). It will be dropped from the student’s record at the end of pre-term.
