Academic Technology Goals

Accessibility
Ensure broad and open access to technology tools and services to facilitate a community-wide atmosphere of participation and involvement.

The Classroom Experience
Advise on the planning and implementation of technologically advanced classrooms and other workspaces in which hardware and software resources can be effectively utilized by instructors and learners to enhance their overall educational experience. 

Beyond the Classroom
Develop and maintain technologies that support the SAIS experience outside of the conventional classroom setting by implementing software tools designed to supplement traditional pedagogical methods and allow students to assume a more active role in their own education.

Learning Management Systems
Implement and support the presence of online, web-based tools by which the SAIS community will organize and present information and by which the community will have 24-hour access to materials that facilitate individual and shared instructional and professional enrichment. 

Training
By supporting self-guided and in-person training methodologies, ensure that the SAIS community has the practical and pedagogical understanding of technology to effectively utilize electronic resources for instructional and professional enrichment.

Assessment and Benchmarking
Establish mechanisms to routinely gauge the status and effectiveness of technology pedagogy at SAIS, including monitoring contemporary trends in educational hardware, software, and other concepts to ensure that SAIS achieves and maintains a level of technological/pedagogical advancement that is on par with or ahead of peer institutions.

Outreach and Networking
Establish cooperative, information-sharing relationships with local, regional, and national peer institutions to exchange ideas and practices related to the effective application of academic technology, at SAIS.

Promotion
Develop and maintain a campaign to increase awareness of the office's mission of technological and pedagogical advancement in all areas of instruction at SAIS.
