M.I.P.P. | Curriculum

Because the M.I.P.P. is designed as a mid-career program, all applicants must have at least nine years of work experience after completion of an undergraduate degree. The M.I.P.P. degree consists of eight non-language courses, preferably completed full-time within one year, but when necessary an M.I.P.P. candidate can request part-time status and complete the degree over the span of two years.

Please note: SAIS offers the majority of its classes during the day.  Therefore, most part-time M.I.P.P. students take day classes.

In addition to non-language course requirements, M.I.P.P. students whose native language is not English must also pass the first-semester English placement examination with the SAIS English department. Those who do not pass may fulfill this requirement by taking and passing two semesters of English language instruction at SAIS.

In designing a course of study, an M.I.P.P. candidate may choose any combination of eight non-language courses from the SAIS curriculum. Some candidates have chosen to spend the year concentrating in only one world area or only in economics. Others have selected a broad range of course work from different regional and functional fields.
