M.I.P.P. | Community

The M.I.P.P. community prides itself on our students abilities to contribute both inside and outside the classroom. Through M.I.P.P. exclusive co-curricular and social events and SAIS-wide community events, SAIS provides opportunities for M.I.P.P. students to integrate into the SAIS community and come together for shared cohort experiences.

Below are some of our M.I.P.P. exclusive services and events.

Connect Early

Prior to matriculating at SAIS, M.I.P.P. students will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one advising session with their academic advisor, who can assist them in understanding the policies and procedures of the university and preparing for first semester registration.

Orientation

In addition to the SAIS-wide orientation, M.I.P.P. students have an M.I.P.P. specific orientation, which allows them to meet each other, receive M.I.P.P. specific guidance and registration information, and hear from current M.I.P.P. students.

M.I.P.P. Student Government Representative and Social Liaisons

One M.I.P.P. student is selected by the group to represent the M.I.P.P. cohort on the SAIS Student Government (SGA). This representative participates in SGA meetings and provides details on upcoming campus events to all M.I.P.P. students. Also, this representative assist in planning SGA community-wide events and M.I.P.P. specific events throughout the semester.

Two M.I.P.P. students are selected to assist in planning local events and cultural activities for the M.I.P.P. students and their families.

M.I.P.P. Alumni Night

While SAIS provides a lot of opportunities for current students to network with SAIS alumni, the M.I.P.P. Program partners with the Alumni Office to host an M.I.P.P. Alumni Night each February. This annual event provides a unique opportunity for M.I.P.P. alumni and current students to connect with SAIS faculty and network with each other.

M.I.P.P. Spring Speaker Series

The M.I.P.P. Program hosted an M.I.P.P. Speaker Series each spring semester.  This series has included the following faculty speakers:

Francis Fukuyama – Director, International Development Program

End of the Year Activity

At the end of each academic year, the M.I.P.P. students gather for a fun activity in the local D.C. area. Past activities have included a night a Nationals Park, wine tasting and an afternoon cruise on the Potomac. It is a nice way to end the school year and celebrate!
