Ernesto Henrique Fraga Araújo 
Mr. Araújo worked in the Divison for Mercosur Affairs at the Ministry of External Relations from 1991 to 1995. He served in the Brazilian Mission to the European Union (Brussels), responsible for the Mercosur-EU negotiations, and in the Brazilian Embassy to Germany (Bonn and Berlin), holding the economic portfolio. In Brasília, Mr. Araújo was Head of the Division for Services, Investment and Financial Policy (2003-2005) and the Division for Extra-Regional Negotiations of Mercosur (2005-2007) at the Ministry of External Relations. From 2007 to July 2010, he was Deputy Chief of Ministry at the Brazilian Embassy in Ottawa. Since then he has served as Minister-Counselor at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, answering for the portfolios of Economic and Trade Affairs, Science and Technology, Innovation, Energy and the Environment. Mr. Araújo has published two books on Mercosur and Brazilian trade policy, and three novels. He was born in 1967, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and studied Literature and Linguistics at the University of Brasília, and Diplomacy at the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy – Instituto Rio Branco. TOP
