Become an Assistant Editor SAIS students apply to become editors for many reasons: to improve their own writing, to learn about new fields, to explore careers in publishing and journalism, to learn new skills, and to meet other students with the same interests. Assistant editors come on board at the beginning of each semester after submitting a current resume to the senior editors and an interview. The SAIS Review is accepting applications for the 2010-2011 academic year. Please email saisreview@jhu.edu for more information on application procedures and deadlines.
The time commitment for assistant editors consists of weekly one-hour meetings and approximately twenty hours per semester of editing and journal development. Recommend Topics Topics for future issues of SAIS Review come from the editorial board. SAIS Review tries to look at international affairs from new angles and with different viewpoints. Past topics have for example included migration, gender in international relations, and the informal economy. The assistant editors propose topics, conduct research, and present their ideas to their colleagues at the weekly meetings. The board ultimately decides the topic by a majority vote.
