JHU SAIS to Host 13th Annual Washington Energy Policy Conference

The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a one-day conference, “New Energy Dynamics: Recession and Beyond,” on Monday, April 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The SAIS Global Energy and Environment Initiative (GEEI) is co-sponsoring this event with the National Capital Area Chapter of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics (USAEE).

Jason Grumet, executive director of the National Commission on Energy Policy, will give the keynote address about “The Obama Administration’s Energy and Carbon Reduction Priorities in Recession 2009” at 9 a.m. Expert speakers from industry, government, consulting firms and academia will speak throughout the day in the following panel sessions:

8:45 a.m. Welcoming Remarks
9 a.m. Keynote address by Jason Grumet
9:30 a.m. “Oil, Gas and Geopolitics: Challenges and Solutions”
12:15 p.m. Luncheon address – speaker TBA
2 p.m. “The Prospects for Transportation”
3:30 p.m. “Climate Change Initiatives”
4:45 p.m. Concluding Remarks and Reception

Click here for a complete conference agenda and listing of speakers. The conference will be held in the Kenney Auditorium, first floor of the SAIS Nitze Building at 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.

Admission to the conference by members of the public requires registration and there is a fee of $150 for USAEE members and $170 for non-members. To register, contact anorris@jhu.edu or 202.663.5786.

NOTE TO REPORTERS: There is no fee for reporters covering the conference except for $25 if you want to have lunch.
