For donors in the UK

Donors who are tax liable in the UK can make tax efficient gifts to SAIS Europe through The Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University UK Charitable Trust (Reg. Charity # 1003982). Donors who pay taxes both in the United States and in the UK should make their gifts to SAIS Europe via the Johns Hopkins University (USA) Foundation, Ltd. (Reg. Charity #1105313), which allows donors to receive tax advantages from both the IRS and Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Furthermore, in both cases, UK based donors increase the value of their donation to the Charity through the Gift Aid Scheme (by approx. 20% of the gift value, representing the basic tax rate on their gift which the charity can reclaim from HMRC). In addition, higher rate tax payers can reclaim the difference between the basic rate and the higher rate (20% and 40/45% respectively) on their annual tax return.

To qualify for Gift Aid, please download the form here for the UK Charitable Trust and here for the JHU (USA) Foundation. Note: the Gift Aid form does not need to be signed for each gift but only at the time of your first gift via either charity.

For proper internal tracking of your donation, please also send an email to the Office of Development specifying the amount and the designation of your gift and which charity you have chose.
