President Barack Obama has appointed Philip Gordon B’86, ’87, Ph.D. ’91 to the National Security Staff to serve as special assistant to the president and White House coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf Region, effective March 11. Since 2009, Gordon has been the U.S. assistant secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
