SAIS Center on Politics and Foreign Relations Launches Online Magazine About Obama Presidency The SAIS Center on Politics and Foreign Relations and the Johns Hopkins Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Government Program have launched an online publication entitled “America’s 44th President: On the Issues.” The interactive magazine features a collection of essays and general information on Obama’s staff, his views on key policy areas and a timeline of his election campaign and victory. SAIS Hosted Book Event on Shah of Iran on December 3 On Wednesday, December 3, Gholam Reza Afkhami, senior scholar at the Foundation for Iranian Studies, discussed his new book, The Life and Times of the Shah. SAIS Graduate Named to Obama Cabinet On November 24, N.Y. Federal Reserve Bank President Timothy F. Geithner ’85 was nominated to serve as the next U.S. Treasury secretary. Geithner, who studied East Asian affairs while at SAIS, received the 2006 Johns Hopkins University Woodrow Wilson Award for Distinguished Government Service. SAIS Team Takes First Place in Thunderbird Sustainable Innovation Summit Challenge For the second year in a row, a team of five SAIS students finished in first place out of more than 130 teams competing in the Sustainable Innovation Summit Challenge hosted November 13-15 by Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Ariz. SAIS was the only non-MBA school participating in the group of 10 teams from around the world in the final round of the competition.
