SAIS Co-Hosted Conference on Islam, Secularism and Democracy in Turkey on April 19 and 20
SAIS and Turkey's Journalists and Writers Foundation co-hosted a two-day conference, "Islam, Secularism and Democracy: The Turkish Experience," on Monday, April 19 and Tuesday, April 20. During the conference, more than 40 Turkish and American panelists examined the relevance of Turkey's secular, Muslim and democratic attributes for the larger Islamic world in today's post-September 11 environment.
