SAIS has two wireless networks available for Internet access. The wireless network named "hopkins" is a secure wireless network that is available to students, faculty, and staff. To access the Internet using the "hopkins" network, you must know your JHED ID (you can go to http://my.jhu.edu to retrieve it). You must connect using the "hopkins" network in order to access certain services, such as the JHU Libraries' online resources and the printers in the Library's Laptop Room and Nitze Basement. Please note that you only need to set up the "hopkins" network once (it should remain in your wireless network/profile list after it is set up). Depending on your laptop's operating system, the instructions for setting up the "hopkins" network will vary. Click on the appropriate link below. Windows XP Windows Vista Mac OS X (10.4 - Tiger) Mac OS X (10.5 - Leopard) The wireless network named "JHGuestnet" is primarily for guests who are visiting SAIS. It is not secured in any way and access to certain Library and SAIS applications is not available. "JHGuestnet" provides a quick and easy way to access the Internet using a wireless card. To access the "JHGuestnet" network, if your system does not start the connection automatically for you, you simply need to connect to it by selecting it using your specific wireless management application. You can then just open a web browser, accept the terms of use, and access the Internet. If you need any help, please see Sonny Singh in the Library (Nitze 613) or call him at 202-663-5912.
