Printing to the Computer Lab's Multifunction Printer and the Multimedia Center's Multifunction Printer

To print to the printers below from your laptop, the printer and Pharos software must be installed.  In addition, you must be connected to the "hopkins" wireless network (instructions here).  Laptop printing will not work with the "JHGuestnet" wireless network.

Computer Lab's Multifunction Printer

For Windows, please perform the following steps:

1. To install the Computer Lab's Multifunction Printer and the Pharos software, download the installation program by clicking here.  Make sure to select the option to "Save this file to disk."
2. After the file has been saved to your system, find it and double-click it.  Click "Install" to start the installation process.
3. When finished, click "Finish" to exit the installation window.  The printer should now be installed on your system.  The printer name will be "CCLabMFP5000."  Do not change the name of this printer.
4. Once the printer is installed, you must set up the printer so that it will default to double-sided printing.  To do this, go to the Control Panel and click on your "Printers" list (this step may vary slightly depending on your version of Windows).
5. Right-click the "CCLabMFP5000" printer and select "Printing Preferences."
6. Under the "Duplex" option, select "Open to Left" and click "OK."  This printer will now default to double-sided printing.

For Macintosh OS X, please perform the following steps:

1. To install the Pharos software, download the installation program by clicking here.
2. After the file has been saved to your system, double-click it to run the Pharos installation program. You will be requested to authenticate yourself as an administrator.
3. Select a destination disk. You will only be able to select the startup disk.
4. Click <Install>. The installer automatically installs Popup 8.0 and required support files.  Continue with the steps listed below.
5. Download and install the Ricoh MP 5000/5001 printer driver from here.
6. Open System Preferences and click on the <Print & Fax> icon.
7. Click the <+> button.
8. Hold down the <Control> key on the keyboard and click anywhere on the toolbar. From the popup menu that appears, select <Customize Toolbar...>.
9. Drag the <Advanced> icon to the toolbar and close the customization dialog.
10. Click on the <Advanced> button in the toolbar.
11. In the <URL> field, enter the Unified Resource Identifier for the desired Popup queue on the Pharos Print Server.  To install the Ricoh MP 5000/5001 printer, this entry should be "popup://128.220.183.25/SAIS-CC-MFP5000BW", without the quotes. 
12. In the <Name> field, enter a name for the new printer queue.
13. From the <Print Using> popup button, select the type of printer associated with the Popup queue.  The printer is the Ricoh Aficio 5000/5001.
14. Click <Add>.  Make sure that "Optional Duplex Unit" or "Duplex Unit" is checked in the window that shows you the printer's options.
15. To print to the new queue, select it from the printer popup button in the print dialog box of any application.  Please make sure that duplex/double-sided printing is selected in the print dialog box of the application you are printing from.

Multimedia Center's Multifunction Printer

For Windows, please perform the following steps:

1. To install the Computer Center's Multifunction Printer and the Pharos software, download the installation program by clicking here.  Make sure to select the option to "Save this file to disk."
2. After the file has been saved to your system, find it and double-click it.  Click "Install" to start the installation process.
3. When finished, click "Finish" to exit the installation window.  The printer should now be installed on your system.  The printer name will be "MMCLABMP5000."  Do not change the name of this printer.
