This conference was the culminating event of the "Year of China" at SAIS where we have been examining China's evolving role on the world stage as a special theme this academic year.

SAIS hosted a two-day conference on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 to address "China's Engagement With Africa: Opportunity and Challenge." Friday afternoon's panel discussion about policy options in the changing strategic landscape featured Harry Broadman of the World Bank, Denis Tull of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Adama Gaye of Ecobank, and Pang Zhongying (moderator) of Nankai University.

SAIS Team Takes Third Place in Thunderbird Sustainable Innovation Summit Challenge
A team of five SAIS students finished in third place out of more than 85 teams competing in the Sustainable Innovation Summit Challenge hosted March 21-24 by Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Ariz. SAIS was the only non-MBA school participant in the group of 10 teams from around the world in the final round of the competition. Congratulations to team members Seth Colby, Landon Loomis, Chris Meyer, Chris Saunders and Rachna Saxena.
