Candidates for the one-year diploma must complete a minimum of two semesters at SAIS Bologna as full-time resident students. Requirements include passing a minimum of eight courses during the academic year, not including a language course.
Non-native English-speaking candidates must pass an English proficiency examination by the end of the year or successfully complete two semester courses in advanced English. All native English-speaking candidates must pass a foreign-language proficiency examination or successfully complete two regular semester courses in one of the languages offered at SAIS Bologna.
Students who intend to continue their studies to earn the M.A. or M.A.I.A. degree should plan their program of studies at SAIS Bologna with careful attention to the respective degree requirements.
