Thucydides on War

Thucydides’ Histories can be seen not only as a masterpiece of ancient historiography and classical political philosophy but also as a grand theory of international politics. Following a reading of the text, special emphasis is put on the themes most relevant for theoretical purposes. The last part focuses on the influence of Thucydides’ thought on contemporary international relations theory. (STRAT and T&H)
