Local Impacts of Globalization

This seminar will examine how the expansion of trade, labor, capital and information flows has transformed the lives of people in the developing economies of Asia, Africa and Latin America. The seminar has three goals: to familiarize students with alternative definitions and critiques of globalization, examine human development in the era of interconnectedness, and review disaggregated data and narratives that describe how the global and local interact at the country and regional levels.
