Grand Strategies of the British Empire

 
Taking the perspective of leaders in London, this seminar explores the strategic dilemmas the British Empire confronted and the grand strategies adopted to sustain it. Topics focus on the intersection of economic, foreign, and military and naval policy, including the imperialism of free trade, constructive imperialism, the world wars, post-1945 imperialism, decolonization, and contemporary comparisons to the United States.
