Investments in education are getting more attention now than at any time in the past 50 years. This course examines the empirical evidence linking education to population growth, poverty, inequality, economic development, globalization and other key issues. Examines issues of access, quality and relevance in education systems around the world as well as the roles of various actors in the education and development process, including national governments, international financial institutions and agencies, NGOs and other civil society organizations. Explores the implications for education and development policy and practice throughout the course.
