The resident SAIS faculty includes 65 professors noted for their scholarly accomplishments and their contributions to international understanding. Senior faculty members draw upon years of professional experience in government and the private sector, while younger members bring fresh perspectives to the classroom and research.

Approximately 150 part-time lecturers who hold positions in federal agencies, research firms, international organizations and other universities regularly conduct classes at SAIS. Visiting scholars from overseas and the United States also come to the school for varying periods of time to teach, lecture and conduct research.
