Background and Education:
Has taught Japanese at SAIS since 1986; certified as an Oral Proficiency Interview Tester in Japanese by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages; reviewer and consultant for the American Council on Education for Japanese language programs and testing; recently designed computer-based visualization of Japanese grammar, vocabulary and expressions for SAIS students; M.S., curriculum and instruction, with emphasis on bilingual and multicultural education, Kansas State University
