Former professor of politics at Birkbeck College at the University of London and visiting professor of politics at Seikei University in Tokyo; elected a fellow of Christ’s College at University of Cambridge; has held a Leverhulme Fellowship and was a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin member; member of the editorial boards of Critique Internationale and Political Quarterly; recipient of the 2005 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award by the Indian government; Ph.D., social and political sciences, University of Cambridge
