Taught Portuguese at Stanford University; taught English as a Foreign Language and Portuguese at Instituto Brasil-Estados Unidos in Rio, Brazil, her native country; taught English composition to English as a Second Language students at University of Alabama; director of the 2010 Lauder-Wharton Portuguese Summer Immersion Program; current Chair of the ACTFL Portuguese Special Interest Group; certified as a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages trainer with the School for International Training and has trained teachers in Brazil, Costa Rica and Spain; areas of interest include vocabulary acquisition, learner autonomy and interdependence, reflective practice, and material design for both English and Portuguese learners; M.A., TESOL, University of Alabama
