Has held teaching, curriculum development and language program management positions at the U.S. Department of Defense John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute's National Foreign Affairs Training Center and the University of Arizona; developed and validated textbooks and course curriculums for Korean language instruction, including a language training program for U.S. diplomats and consular officers working overseas; selected for the Excellence in Language Teaching Award by the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training; received award from the U.S. Department of State Teaching Excellence; B.A., sociology, University of North Carolina
