Joined the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in 2011; previously was a visiting associate professor of economics at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.; prior to moving to the United States, served as associate professor and vice principal of Loyola College in Madras (Chennai), India; was also a visiting scholar at the Université Africaine de Technologie et de Management in West Africa and XLRI-Xavier Institute of Management in India; was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and taught at Peradeniya University in Sri Lanka; delivered guest lectures at La Trobe University in Australia and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand; research interests focus on microfinance and international trade and banking, and in 1997 led a study team to Bangladesh to evaluate the working of microfinance institutions; Ph.D., economics, Madras University in India
