Background and Education
Has taught Japanese at SAIS since 1986; certified as an Oral Proficiency Interview Tester in Japanese by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages; reviewer and consultant for the American Council on Education for Japanese language programs and testing; recently designed computer-based visualization of Japanese grammar, vocabulary and expressions for SAIS students; M.S., curriculum and instruction, with emphasis on bilingual and multicultural education, Kansas State University
Team lecturer in television presentations in Japanese on the Listening Comprehension section of "Practice for the TOEFL Test" broadcast in Japan (2000-01); SAIS Japanese Reader in International Affairs, co-author (1998); "Extending the Scope of ESL Software for Advanced Students" in Cross Currents (1984)
