Frequently Asked Questions by Employers

  1. How do I post a job?
  2. When is the SAIS recruiting season?
  3. How can I receive students’ resumes?
  4. Can I arrange on-campus interviews?
  5. Is there a charge attached to your recruiting events?
  6. How can I reach out to professional groups on campus?

1.  How do I post a job?
Employers can either register to use our online system or if preferred, send us an electronic copy of the posting at saiscareer@jhu.edu. For questions regarding job postings, contact our office at 202-663-5710.

2.  When is the SAIS recruiting season?
Campus recruiting for the fall semester begins during the second week of September and runs through the first week of December. Spring recruiting runs from January through April.  Most organizations schedule an open presentation for students Monday through Friday either from 12:30-2:00 p.m. or 4:30-6:30 p.m.

3.  How can I receive students’ resumes?
Whether or not an employer visits SAIS, they may request that Career Services organize a resume collection for their current position. The office must receive an electronic description of the position outlining job responsibilities, required skills/experience, required application materials (e.g. resume, writing sample), contact person/office and an application deadline.  This position is then publicized on our job database for students to view and submit an electronic application.  All applications collected are then forwarded to the employer on the date specified.

4.  Can I arrange on-campus interviews?
To arrange on-campus interviews, please contact Janet Burrowes at 202-663-7797 or e-mail jburrowes@jhu.edu. Employers who need to interview current students attending the Bologna or Nanjing campuses may do so through the use of the telephone or video conferencing (both of which we provide).

5.  Is there a charge attached to your recruiting events?
Almost all of our recruiting events are free of charge. However, there are charges associated with the fall and spring Career Fairs. Send an e-mail to careerservicesweb@jhu.edu for the current pricing structure.

6.  How can I reach out to professional groups on campus?
Each year there are a number of professional student groups on campus. For more details on these groups and the Student Government Association please click here.
